Special Education Teaching Kit

The Photon Special Education Kit is designed to support the use of the robot to help students affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder, lifelong disabilities that affect a person’s ability to communicate and understand social cues. Research into applying robots as therapy tools has shown that robots seem to improve engagement and elicit novel social behaviors from people (particularly children and teenagers) with autism. This kit supports research-based best practices in the use of Photon, providing therapeutic benefits by allowing audiovisual social cues to be experienced through a simplified version of a human interaction.
