Photon: Top Three Learning Solution Benefits

You may have read about this rotund, useful, playful robot named Photon on Eduscape’s social media posts, in our blog, or on our website. Photon is providing learning solutions to teachers and students alike, in the U.S. and around the world. Hailing originally from Poland in 2017, Photon can now be found in over 15,000 institutions, and used by over 1,000,000 students on six different continents.

So how could your students, like millions of other students worldwide, improve their academic success by using Photon?

Well, since our team here at Eduscape is comprised almost entirely of classroom educators, we’ve been able to help teachers across the country successfully implement this solution, and we have seen firsthand how it has improved student success So, in stepping back and taking that proverbial teacher “reflection” we all know so well, we’ve come up with what we believe are three of the top reasons why our clients and other users around the world find Photon to be such a diverse learning solution.

Ready? Here we go!

  1. 21st Century Coding Skills - In what is quickly becoming a computer science learning learning standard nationwide (i.e. New York State computer science coding standards to be implemented by September of 2024, among many others), coding literacy and skills will need to be on every students’ 21st century “skill plate” for college and career readiness.

With Photon’s easy step by step entry into coding, for both student and “novice coding skills” teacher alike, the scaffolded coding levels, from Draw, to Badge, to Blocks, up through Python and Java, and programming multiple photons at the same time and making microbit/robotics connections, all provide for an excellent sequential coding learning ladder.
  1. Much More Than Just a Coding Solution - A unique feature of Photon is its ability to provide multiple learning solutions outside of straight coding. For example, the learning kits that are also available include AI (artificial intelligence), Physics, SEL, Early Education, and more.

Additionally, alongside our thought partner client teachers, we have found there are so many creative ways to use Photon to support classroom curriculum across all content areas. For example, as a character in a story, to support a lesson on emotions, or a particular favorite; “Self-Driving Autonomous Vehicles”. The creative solutions are virtually limitless; it simply becomes a matter of getting some experience with Photon and sometimes even learning with Photon alongside your students.
  1. Scaffolded Support from Early Childhood Education Through High School - In the learning tool marketplace, there really aren’t that many products out there that can truly be used and scaffolded for the entire K-12 spectrum. However, Photon is truly unique, certainly in its coding capabilities, in its ability to provide a challenging and fun coding curriculum appropriate for any age or skill level, as well as providing solutions beyond coding into almost any curricular area.

At Eduscape, we have a mission to rethink learning, by empowering educators to unlock the potential of every learner. In that spirit, we of course are not in the business of providing our client teachers with anything that is going to become “just another thing” in their classroom. As educators, we only offer solutions that you will be able to use, implement, and find to be most relevant to your classroom and curriculum.
