Connecting with English Language Learners and their FamiliesIn this session, explore resources that support building an authentic connection with English Language Learners and their families. Review digital tools that promote language acquisition and literacy in early education, as well as support inclusive communication to ensure learners and their families have an equitable voice in the classroom and school community.
Empowered Learning with Choice BoardsEmpowered learners, student-agency and student-directed learning are concepts and characteristics we work hard to cultivate in our classroom environments - whether in person or through blended and remote models of instruction. Choice Boards is one way to promote student voice and choice to increase engagement, access, and autonomy. In this session we will learn how digital tools, such as Google Docs and Google Slides, can be used to create Choice Boards to use in any classroom setting. Get ready for your students to take charge of their own learning!
Interactive Practice with Pear DeckCreate fun and purposeful lessons for all students using the digital Add-on, Pear Deck. Experience how Pear Deck can transform lessons into interactive experiences using images and manipulatives. Learn how to use features of Pear Deck, and build an engaging activity to use in the classroom or share with others!
Promoting Early Education STEM MindsetsDive into how to implement STEM experiences in the classroom to promote creative, resilient and collaborative mindsets in early education learners. In this session, discuss what STEM is and why STEM applies to all subjects. Experience a STEM activity and the practical application to a virtual or in person classroom.
Project-based Virtual Learning ExperiencesDiscover how to design project-based learning experiences that will engage learners in real-world problems and authentically demonstrate learning. This session guides educators through a process for designing project-based learning experiences that can be used in the face-to-face, blended or virtual classroom, using digital tools and resources.
