Sharon Cronk-Raby started her education career journey as a middle school Language Arts teacher in a suburban neighborhood just outside of Chicago, Illinois. She next transitioned into the world of adjunct instruction at her then local community college, Joliet Junior College, teaching a variety of English and Developmental Education courses. After moving to Florida’s space coast with her husband (Dennis) and daughters (Violet and Jade), she continued her journey in the world of higher education as a Professor and Writing Center Coordinator. She now serves as the Dean of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Florida State College. She has earned degrees in English (Bachelor and Master) and Psychology, with an emphasis in Cognition and Instruction (PhD). Her master’s thesis focused on motherhood roles through the lenses of personal versus societal expectations in Kate Chopin’s THE AWAKENING. Her doctoral dissertation was a qualitative narrative inquiry of perceived causes and solutions of writing anxiety in college freshman composition students attending an open-enrollment state college. She is honored to be presenting some of her original research at this conference, focusing her research findings on themes common to educators across levels and disciplines.
