Jennifer Basilone - Restoring the Body’s Wisdom: Trauma-Informed Strategies for Healing and Resilience
Trauma can disrupt the body’s natural sense of safety, leaving students and school staff disconnected from their physical selves and stuck in patterns of hyperarousal, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm. In this experiential workshop, participants will explore how trauma-informed techniques and protocols—such as EMDR resourcing, Natural Processing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and elements of the Trauma Resiliency Model—can help restore a felt sense of safety, deepen body awareness, and strengthen capacity for regulation. Through guided demonstrations, practical interventions, and discussion, attendees will learn strategies for fostering resilience by restoring the body as an ally in learning, teaching, and personal well-being. Participants will leave with immediately applicable tools for helping students, colleagues and themselves reconnect to their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and access inner resources for growth and self-discovery.
